Black Birthday

All I want is black balloons for my birthday.

Perhaps I can have a black wedding one day, or a gothic wedding...
But the elderly will definitely forbid me to do so.

One of my male classmate started to call me "black cat" when we were 13 years old, so the others followed, therefore "black cat" became my nickname during high school.
Why "black cat"? He said I have cat's eyes, and tan skin.
This guy has a "meow" or "miao" as his middle name, which made me think it's so funny for the "miao" to call me "black cat".

We are busy converting our garage into a small home business - selling Polaroid films and cameras.
Now my favourite black winter jacket is all covered with white paint (which I am quite upset with) after three days of painting the ceiling, wall and furniture.
We are not the fussy type - we just bought the cheapest wall paint and used it universally on everything.

I must do some portrait shoots with the seasoned wall and ceiling before converting the garage into a white SOHO (small office/home office). Thanks to Kit for lending me his 11mm wide angle lens, otherwise we would have problem putting me in the frame.

And also thanks to our generous owner for allowing us to convert the garage into a SOHO. But painting this 70 years plus old garage is not an easy job - sand and cement was peeling from ceiling and hitting our eyes, faces and heads while we were applying layers of paint.

Yay! We are opening our SOHO during mid winter and we shall have black pudding!

I Kidnapped Myself

I need a moment of my own,
I kidnapped myself,
so that you couldn't find me,
and you couldn't hurt me anymore.

Thanks Shu for allowing me to take this photo at her house.
Shu was my university course mate who came from the same hometown as me.
She painted her dining wall in black color.
I just love the black color wall. It's so cool!
I've searched for a few hardware shops and finally got this thick rope.
Sometimes I was thinking, what am I doing?
Because I rather spent money on buying shooting props than buy myself a good meal.
When you are too into something, you just can't help it.
They called it Passion. I love my passion.
Even though I spent hours shooting myself, not to say the hours spent on editing the photos,
I felt that I have achieve something for my Passion.
Imagine waking up every morning with no passion,
That is not a life at all...

I am not your Puppet

Please don’t control me,
Please don’t tell me what to do,
Please don’t insult me,
Because I am not your puppet!

This shot was taken on March 2010 at 5am.
The setting was inspired by rosiehardy.
It took me 3 hours to shoot myself because I had to set the self-timer, ran from the camera and posed, in 10 seconds.
Quite tiring, but it was an achievement -- my very first self portrait! I ended up having bruises all over my knees.
Then I spent 3 hours to edit the shot.

I was so depressed back in that few months-- jobless, hopeless, and sleepless.
Not knowing where to go,
not knowing how to love....

So I jumped out of bed from another sleepless night and start my own self portrait!
